A lorry caused chaos on Tuesday after overturning close to the start of the Baldock bypass.

The accident happened at 1.50pm, blocking off the Baldock-bound carriageway of London Road and it was not fully open again until 7.30pm.

Five fire crews sped to the scene. They used cutting equipment to free the two people trapped inside the lorry and supplied them with oxygen.

The male driver and female passenger were both taken to Lister Hospital and kept in overnight.

The woman had leg injuries and the man had internal injuries, which were described as serious but not life threatening.
