FOUR fire crews battled to tackle a blaze which had spread from a garden shed to two houses this afternoon (Tuesday).
Firefighters were called to Chells Way in Stevenage at 2.41pm to reports of a shed on fire in a back garden.
But the fire quickly spread to the roof of an adjoining property and to the mid-terrace house next door.
It took about an hour to put the fire out.
Paramedics attended the scene but Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the ambulance service, said: “Luckily the occupants of both premises were out at the time and there were no injuries.”
He added: “A man and a woman who own one of the houses arrived to find their house severely damaged by the fire and were checked over by paramedics, but did not require hospital treatment.”
The cause of the fire was accidental.
