A MAN and a woman were hospitalised after the car they were travelling in crashed through three back gardens, flattening fences, garden sheds and furniture.

Paramedics were called to Pilgrims Way in Stevenage at 1.19am on Saturday to a report of an overturned car, with occupants possibly trapped.

Paramedic Jo Arnold said: "On my arrival the car was not clearly visible from the road. We believe the car collided with a road sign and a lamppost near to the Canterbury Way junction. The car took off into the air, crashing through several back gardens. The impact completely flattened garden sheds, fences and garden furniture before coming to rest upside down in the third garden."

The man and woman involved - both believed to be in their 20s - were out of the car when the paramedics arrived.

They both received minor injuries and, following treatment at the roadside, were taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
