Emergency services were called to a flat in Hitchin on Sunday morning after some rubbish caught fire in a kitchen.

Two fire crews and the police went to the fire in South Place at about 4.30am.

Black smoke had filled the property after rubbish near a cooker caught fire.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service left the property at 4.45am.
