Firefighters cut a person free from their vehicle this morning after a car and a lorry crashed in Knebworth.

Emergency services were called at 9.25am after the collision at the junction of Oakfields Road and Stevenage Road.

Two people were treated for injuries at the scene, and later taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The injuries sustained by one person were serious enough that those attending the scene had difficulty safely removing them from the vehicle. Firefighters from two engines – one from Hitchin and one from Stevenage – cut the roof off to allow the person to exit safely.

The B197 Stevenage Road was closed in both directions between Oakfields Road and Watton Road for roughly four hours and re-opened at about 1pm.
