TWO men have been charged after a Stevenage man was attacked in the town on Sunday night.

Following the incident, which is believed to have taken place between 7pm and 7.25pm in Claymores, the injured man left the address and walked to the junction at Popple Way, where a member of the public found him and called an ambulance.

The man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since discharged himself from hospital. Police have now launched an appeal and investigating officer, Ds Gez Ellis, said: “I would like to reassure local residents that this incident is not believed to be a random attack.

“I am appealing for the member of the public who called the ambulance for the injured man to get in contact with us, as they could have information which could prove to be important to our investigation. I’d also be interested to speak to anyone else who was in the area and saw anything suspicious.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ds Ellis on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
