Two people have been arrested after a police chase ended with a patrol car forcing a VW Golf to stop after it mounted a Hitchin pavement this afternoon.
Police were pursuing a grey VW Golf in Queen Street at about 2.30pm when it collided with a red Vauxhall Astra opposite St Mary’s Church.
After attempting to drive along the pavement at the junction for Hollow Lane and heading in the direction of the nearby pedestrian crossing, a police car rammed the VW against the railings – forcing it to stop on the pavement.
A man and woman were subsequently arrested and have been taken into custody at Stevenage Police Station.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
