TWO people were arrested on Friday on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hit by a car.

The 40-year-old man was walking along Southgate in Stevenage when he was hit by a red Vauxhall Cavalier.

Police were quickly at the scene after receiving a phone call at 10.40am and cordoned off the area.

A 30-year-old Stevenage man and a 29-year-old woman of no fixed address were arrested and taken to Stevenage police station.

They were not charged and were released on bail. They are due to return to the police station on April 23.

The injured man was taken to Lister Hospital with minor injuries and was discharged the same day.
