ONE of television’s most famous faces dropped into Comet country last week offering design and style tips for residents looking to make changes to their home.

Interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen kicked off his nationwide ‘Inspirations’ tour at Stevenage’s Moben Sharps and Dolphin showroom in Roaring Meg Retail Park on Friday morning.

Between speaking with homeowners about the latest trends for decorating kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, The Comet asked the former Changing Rooms presenter about past TV visits to Comet country, getting dressed and spelling his name.

Questioned whether this was his first trip to the area, Laurence said: “I did a Fantasy Rooms show in Hitchin a few years back but after 15 years of filming – yes I’ve been on TV that long – there’s not a single corner of the country I haven’t visited.”

On his flamboyant style of dress, the new ambassador for Moben Sharps and Dolphin said: “I know people take an interest and when I wake up I work out what I’m going to wear.

Often if I’m doing filming for a show people will tell me what I’ve got to wear but if not I always choose a suit and I suppose most guys are the same.

“David Beckham may look good in jogging bottoms but for most men you’ve got to wear a suit – why wouldn’t you!?

As for his frequently misspelled name, he refused to bear any grudge against his parents, adding: “It can be difficult as Laurence can be spelt two ways and it’s Welsh.

“It’s better than my parents calling me something like ‘Lancelot’ though.”
