TURN green is the message from an action group taking part in a town festival.
Transition Town Letchworth (TTL), which encourages community environmental action in the garden city, is holding a town-wide Garage Sale Day and a Green Day as part of Letchworth Festival.
The Garage Sale Day has been set up to encourage residents to recycle rather than buy new and the Green Day is about making your own food, be it vegetables, herbs or cakes.
Ian Warder, TTL committee member, said: "We want to promote re-use rather than filling up landfill. We are interested in reducing our oil usage and keeping things local. We are convinced that much of what we need is probably to be found just around the corner - be it a high chair, a cake or a filing cabinet. The movement is all about building communities."
Garage Sale Day takes place this Sunday while the Green Day will be held in Leys Square from 10am to 4pm next Friday July 31.
