TWO shoplifters paid a high price for their crimes on Friday when they were caught by staff at ASDA in Biggleswade.
The women had been caught trying to sneak out of the store with just £26 worth of goods.
After being spoken to by police they were each given fixed penalty fines of £80.
"Fixed penalty fines get the message across that we will not tolerate shoplifting," said Biggleswade beat manager Pc Ian Wilson.
"There has been a spate of shoplifting in the town in recent months but all businesses are now taking a firm line and calling the police when they stop people suspected of stealing.
