Three people arrested on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) near Letchworth on Friday have been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin.
Two men and a woman were arrested at about 11.30am after police signalled for them to stop on the northbound carriageway about 300 yards before the Junction 9 turn-off.
Mohammed Khan, 29, of Crawley Road in Luton, has been charged with conspiring to supply heroin, and possession of cocaine and cannabis.
Riffy Sharif, 32, of Croxley View in Watford, and an 18-year-old female in Luton, have both been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin.
Sharif and Khan have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Hatfield Remand Court today. Briant has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
