THE milkman who died after his van hit a viaduct has been named.

Andy Ellis, who was 43 and from Hitchin, died in the early hours of Wednesday morning after the collision on Bessemer Road in Welwyn GC on Tuesday night.

A well-known Hitchin Football Club supporter, tributes have been pouring in to the club's website many of which called for a minutes silence at Top Field at the next home game.

A fellow fan and friend said: "It's just so sad, condolences to his wife, boys and family. He was my mum's milkman but always made sure she was ok and helped her when needed. A genuine nice Hitchin boy.
