Travellers have set up home in a council owned car park.
Police and North Herts District Council were told of their arrival to the car park near Riverain Bowls Clubs on Woolgrove Road, Hitchin, at around 12.20pm today.
The family arrived from Luton in two Ford transit vans and a caravan, entering the car park through an open barrier.
The barrier has now been closed to prevent any further visitors.
The council confirmed that enforcement officers are dealing with the situation with the help of officers from Herts police.
