Travellers who have parked their caravans on a council-run car park opposite Stevenage Football Club have been served with an eviction notice.
A number of caravans moved onto the Fairlands Valley Showground car park off Broadhall Way yesterday around 12 noon.
A spokesman for Stevenage Borough Council, which owns the car park, said bailiffs employed by the council have served them with a notice today to move on – and the travellers have been given until 12 noon tomorrow to leave.
Stevenage FC has been given assurances that the travellers will be gone by the time supporters start arriving for the match with Portsmouth FC which kicks off at 3pm tomorrow, so fans can use the Showground to park.
Last month travellers parked up at Fairlands Valley Park, moving on after a notice was served.
