A woman was taken to hospital this morning after her car overturned at an accident blackspot junction on the outskirts of Stevenage and collided with another vehicle.

Emergency service were alerted at about 7.30am after a black Audi A6 rolled at the junction for North Road in Stevenage and Graveley Road, colliding with a black Fiat Punto.

The woman inside the Audi was out of the car when the ambulance service arrived, and was taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further treatment for minor injuries.

Police closed Graveley Road in both directions down to the roundabout for Junction 8 of the A1(M) until the vehicle was recovered.

Changes to the layout to the junction were made in May 2012 on behalf of Herts County Council, and there are no plans to change it despite a number of crashes since and a petition earlier this year calling for action.
