A woman suffered head and leg injuries after the car she was driving left the road and ended up in an embankment near Hitchin.

Fire, police, an ambulance and a Magpas Helimedix air ambulance were called to the scene after a silver VW Polo came off the Hexton Road B655 carriageway at around 7.30pm on Thursday, November 6.

It has been reported that the woman in her 20s was cut free from the car by firefighters. She was then taken by land ambulance to Lister Hospital in Stevenage in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

A Magpas spokesman said: “Given the nature of her injuries, and where her car ended up the lady can consider herself ‘fortunate’ – as it could have been a lot worse.”
