A woman has been taken to hospital after being cut free from her car which overturned on the A602 in Stevenage this afternoon.

An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed the patient was conscious and breathing before being taken to the town’s Lister Hospital, but had no further information about her injuries.

Emergency services were called to Monkswood Way at the roundabout for Broadhall Way at about 2.45pm after the car overturned, and firefighters spent half an hour at the scene cutting her free from the wreckage. An air ambulance was also called but was not required.

Police are expected to reopen the surrounding roads shortly.
