A woman was taken to hospital last night (Monday) after her car mounted a kerb and hit a tree.

Emergency services were called to Cambridge Road in Hitchin at around 6.25pm after a red Honda Jazz left the road at the roundabout for North Herts College and collided with a tree.

Initial reports said the driver, a woman, was trapped in the car so two Hitchin fire crews were called to assist.

The woman was not trapped but was helped from the car by paramedics and firefighters, before being taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage by ambulance for treatment on minor injuries.
