A woman has died in a crash on the A1(M) last night (Wednesday), with the motorway shut for more than four hours.

The collision on the southbound carriageway between Junction 3 and Junction 4 for Hatfield at around 6pm has also left a man with serious injuries.

Beds, Cambs and Herts’ road policing unit revealed on Twitter in the early hours of this morning (Thursday): “The earlier collision on the A1M junction 4 Hatfield has sadly resulted in one lady losing her life and a male left with serious injuries.”

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward by calling 101.
