A broken down freight train is causing further delays to services this afternoon (Monday).

Rail service provider First Capital Connect (FCC) had informed their customers via Twitter at 1.46pm of 20-minute delays to services between Stevenage and Cambridge after a freight train broke down at Royston.

But at 4.13pm FCC tweeted: “The broken down train at Royston is now slowly on the move but delays of up to 45 minutes can be expected until further notice.”

The route affected is that which runs between London Kings Cross and Kings Lynn.

Update 5.50pm: The delays have now been cleared.
