There are delays on the railways between Stevenage and London after police were called to Welwyn Garden City over concerns for a man’s welfare.

British Transport Police and Herts officers were at the scene from 9.10am to attend to the man, who was trespassing on the railway in the Knightsfield area of Welwyn Garden City.

A BTP spokesman told this paper at 10.15am that the man had been moved to safety.

The incident has caused delays between Stevenage and London King’s Cross, with a line blocked and trains at a standstill. Disruption is expected until 12 noon.
