Stevenage has been gridlocked with traffic this evening as a result of a road closure.
Herts Highways confirmed the heavy queuing – affecting major roads through the town, including a large stretch of the A602, Gunnels Wood Road, Martins Way and North Road – was being caused by a road closure in Todds Green.
The closed route, on the outskirts of Stevenage, is a popular back route out of the town and towards Hitchin – avoiding the A602.
@Herts_Highway said it tried to assist by varying signals in a bid to help the flow of traffic.
Traffic was at its worst during rush hour, but has now eased.
