The A1(M) was blocked near Stevenage this morning after a car reportedly collided with a lorry and then spun in the carriageway.

Police were called at just after 6.40am today to the southbound carriageway of the motorway near Junction 7 for Stevenage.

An ambulance service spokesman said paramedics were not required as no injuries were reported.

The A1(M) was blocked prior to the car being recovered, with traffic heavy around the Stevenage area as a result.

It is the third crash on the same section of the A1(M) in the space of a week, with a man pronounced dead at the scene of one of two crashes on the northbound carriageway near Junction 6 for Welwyn last Tuesday night.
