Engineers are working to fix a gas main that was smashed open when a vehicle crashed into it this morning.
The police were called to Crompton Road in Stevenage just after 2.40pm today after reports of an accident.
The road was closed while engineers from the National Grid were called.
The cordon was lifted just after 4pm and work is ongoing to fix the main which should be finished tonight.
No one is understood to have been injured in the crash.
