Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash on a major road in Stevenage this morning.

The two-car crash happened at about 7.20am on the B197 North Road, between the junctions for Coreys Mill Lane and Rectory Lane – just around the corner from the town’s Lister Hospital. The road was closed in both directions.

Police said the vehicles involved were a white Mercedes and a black Ford Fiesta. Recovery was arranged for both vehicles, and the ambulance service was called.

Two ambulance crews attended to three patients, all female, at the scene. One was suffering with ankle and wrist injuries, and another was treated for shock. Both of them were taken to Lister Hospital for further care.
