A chemical spill in Hitchin has left at least one person with burns to their skin.
Herts fire service were called at 10.03am today to reports of the spill in Hitchin’s Bury Mead Road.
Crews from Hitchin, Baldock and Hemel Hempstead attended, alongside the ambulance service, after approximately 20 litres of sodium hydroxide leaked from a container on to the floor.
Fire services are currently awaiting specialist advice from other agencies.
The Comet has approached the ambulance service and is awaiting a response.
