A pensioner was hospitalised after trying to cross the A602 by Stevenage Football Club on Saturday afternoon.
The 78-year-old tripped on a kerb on Broadhall Way and hit his head after a car stopped to let him cross the westbound carriageway shortly after 2.30pm. A home game was due to kick off at The Lamex Stadium.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Lister Hospital in the town for observation.
An ambulance service spokesman said his injuries were slight.
