Man taken ill at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Stevenage

AN ELDERLY man has been taken to hospital after being taken ill in a vehicle parked in a supermarket car park this afternoon (Tuesday).

Ambulances and a police car were called to the scene at Sainsbury’s in Magpie Crescent, Stevenage, after a member of staff at the store raised concerns about the man.

He is now being treated in Lister Hospital.

Sue Shearing, of Aston, who was shopping in Sainsbury’s at the time, said: “I was just at Sainsbury’s in Poplars when a whole lot of police and ambulances arrived.

“The guy who found him said he was slumped in his car so called for help.”
