Man dies after collision on A1(M)

A man has died following a collision on the A1(M) this morning (Monday).

The man, who has been described as in his 50s, died following an accident that occurred at approximately 6.20am near junction 6 southbound when his silver Kia Sorento was involved in a collision with a white Ford panel van. He was taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage but died there soon after arriving.

The van driver was taken to hospital with back injuries.

The road was closed from junction 7 for a number of hours while police investigated the scene, causing traffic delays in parts of Stevenage and Hitchin.
