A man has been arrested and a teenager taken to hospital following a crash this afternoon.
The 17-year-old boy was in collision with a red Nissan van at around 12.30pm, just outside McDonald’s on Nightingale Road in Hitchin.
The boy was taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage with non-life threatening injuries.
A 32-year-old man from Hitchin has since been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving under the influence of alchohol, and without insurance or a valid driving licence.
The road had to be closed but reopened just after 2pm.
