A 29-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a shop front sign fell on his head in Stevenage.

The ambulance service and police were called to Daniel’s Convenience Store in Popple Way after reports that a sign had fallen down at 12.36pm.

An ambulance was on the scene within eight minutes and treated the man – who was conscious and breathing – for a head injury.

The man, who it is reported was able to get in the ambulance himself, has since been taken to the town’s Lister Hospital for further care.
