A MAJOR road is being partially shut today (Monday) for almost two months while repair work takes place.

A section of Six Hills Way in Stevenage will be permanently closed between Shephall Way and Valley Way from Monday, along with an underpass, and is not expected to reopen until September 13.

The repair work, carried out on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, is to strengthen the bridge so it can carry vehicles weighing up to 40 tonnes.

A diversion is being put in place and bus service routes will be affected.
