Roadworks expected to take 12 days to complete will start on the A1(M) tonight (Monday), with the motorway closing fully in one direction.
Overnight work to repair the steel gantries between Junction 9 for Letchworth Gate and Junction 8 for Stevenage of the motorway in both directions will begin from 8pm this evening.
Northbound closures (lanes 1, 2 and hard shoulder) will take place from 8pm until 6am from Monday to Thursday and 9pm until 8.30am on Friday nights.
All lanes will be closed southbound between 8pm until 5.30am from Monday until Friday, and traffic will be diverted via the A505 and the B197.
The work is expected to be completed by 5.30am on Friday, February 14.
