A major road in Hitchin will be closed 24 hours a day for the next three weekends while county council contactors carry out drainage works.

The closure will see Grove Road – between the A505 and the town’s Wilbury Way industrial estate – shut on June 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30, as well as July 1.

Contractors Eurovia will be doing the work on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council. A continuous week-long closure had been planned instead, but was called off amid concerns from businesses in the industrial area.

The diversion route for motorists is via Woolgrove Road, which is accessed from further east on the A505 Cambridge Road.
