A woman remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving in the wake of last night’s crash on the A602 near Stevenage.

The 44-year-old from Hertford was involved in a collision between a black Nissan Micra and a black Vauxhall Astra at Hooks Cross at about 6pm, with a man in his 50s cut free from his car by firefighters before being taken to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital with back and abdominal injures. The police have described the man’s injuries as serious.

The woman was also taken to Lister to be checked over, before police arrested her on suspicion of driving while unfit through drinking.
