There is heavy congestion on the A1 near Biggleswade and Sandy this evening.
Traffic is barely moving on the northbound stretch between the two roundabouts serving Biggleswade, with Traffic England advising motorists to expect delays of at least a quarter of an hour.
There is also heavy traffic on the southbound carriageway near Sandy, and northbound towards St Neots.
A police spokeswoman confirmed to the Comet at 5.30pm that there had not been a crash on the road.
