A lane was blocked on the A1(M) during this morning’s rush hour after a two-vehicle crash which damaged the central reservation.

Police were called to the northbound carriageway between Junction 6 for Welwyn and 7 for Stevenage at about 6.50am after a white Ford Transit van and a grey Citroen C1 collided – with one of the vehicles hitting the central reservation.

The outside lane of the motorway was blocked, with ambulance and fire crews also called after reports of someone being trapped.

Nobody was injured in the crash and the road was clear by 7.30am, although traffic continued to be heavy for some time afterwards.
