A car which crashed in Graveley High Street during the early hours of this morning ended up so far into woodland off the side of the road that Hitchin firefighters had trouble locating it.

The fire service received a call at 1.20am to reports of a crash in Graveley’s High Street – with a car leaving the road before coming to a halt in woodland.

A crew from Hitchin was sent to the scene, and initially firefighters were unable to locate the vehicle.

Nobody was trapped, but the firefighters assisted the ambulance service in helping the casualty.

The extent of their injuries is not known, but @HitchinFire1 tweeted to say “how lucky” they were.
