A GIRL has been left with “serious injuries” after a collision with a car this afternoon.

Police, ambulance crews and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Hitchwood Lane in Preston, near Hitchin, after reports a nine-year old girl had been hit by a car.

They were called around 3.30pm, with the girl since airlifted to the specialist trauma centre at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “The young girl has been treated, stabilised and immobilised by land and air ambulance crews before being flown direct to Addenbrooke’s.”
