A country road near Hitchin is closed in both directions after a crash involving four vehicles, with an air ambulance landing at the scene.
The crash happened on the B655 Barton Road, at the corner with Apsley End Road near Pegsdon – between Hitchin and Barton-le-Clay – at about 12.50pm.
Police and other emergency services are at the scene, with motorists advised to find another route.
An ambulance service spokesman said they had despatched a rapid response vehicle, three ambulance crews, ambulance officer and an East Anglian Air Ambulance to a report of two patients.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call 101, quoting reference number 201 of October 19.
