THREE passengers who became trapped in a car which flipped on to its roof have sustained serious injuries.

The emergency services were called to Norton Bury Lane in Letchworth GC at about 10.20pm on Friday after a silver Peugeot 206 rolled over with a female driver and four male passengers inside.

It took an hour for firefighters to free the driver, along with three of the men, using cutting equipment.

All four were taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further treatment with one of the men involved then transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries.

The man remains in a critical but stable condition, with the two other men said to be stable.

The woman received bruising from the crash, while the fourth male passenger managed to escape unhurt.
