A woman has been rushed to hospital with facial injuries after being cut free from an overturned car on the A505 between Luton and Hitchin.
The eastbound carriageway of the road is closed this morning after the crash involving a silver Renault Scenic, which hit and damaged the central reservation near Lilley at about 6am.
The road was blocked and subsequently closed, as Hitchin and Stevenage firefighters attended the scene and used Lukas cutting equipment to free the woman.
Paramedics treated the 32-year-old patient for facial injuries before she was taken to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital by ambulance.
An ambulance spokesman said that her injuries thankfully did not seem to be life-threatening or serious. The scene was attended by an ambulance crew and officer.
The eastbound carriageway reopened at 8.32am, with heavy traffic afterwards from Stopsley up to the turning for Lilley and Offley.
Hitchin’s fire watch commander commented on Twitter that the extraction methods used to free the woman had been practised at Longfield Training and Development Centre in Stevenage just two days ago.
