Two women had a lucky escape when the car they were travelling in left the road and landed upside-down in a water-filled ditch.

The two women in a Kia Picanto, a driver in her 60s and passenger in her 70s, were treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the Stotfold Road junction of the A507 in Arlesey after being involved in a collision with a Ford Mondeo before leaving the highway shortly before 9.30am on Tuesday.

They were later taken to Lister Hospital as a precautionary measure.
