A man was taken to hospital with serious stomach injuries last night after his car collided with a bridge.

Emergency services were called to Old Knebworth Lane at about 9.50pm after a car hit the railway bridge.

The driver, who is in his 30s, suffered serious stomach and arm injuries and was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage by ambulance.

He is thought to be in a stable condition.
