A MAN has been hospitalised after the car he was driving left the A1(M) and careered up a steep embankment yesterday evening (Thursday).
Paramedics and firefighters were alerted to the A1(M) between junctions 8 and 9 on the northbound carriageway at 6.20pm.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “On arrival of the ambulance crew, the car was approximately 30 to 40 feet up a grassed embankment.”
He continued: “This was a very delicate and difficult incident to deal with as the car was in a precarious position and the paramedics worked very closely with firefighters for nearly two hours to treat, stabilise and immobilise the man before he was taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage with a suspected back injury.”
It is understood the injured man is 21 years old.
