The air ambulance, police and fire service were called to a crash on the A1(M) near Stevenage.
The crash took place at approximately 4,30pm today on the A1(M) northbound between Junction 8 for Stevenage and Junction 9 for Letchworth Gate.
Police and highways officers were called to the scene and temporarily closed the motorway, causing a delay of around 30 minutes,
Traffic was held for the vehicle recovery operator to help clear the road.
All lanes were open by about 5.30pm.
It is not known how many were injured in the incident.
