A cyclist was taken to hospital yesterday with serious facial injuries after a crash with a 4x4 on the outskirts of Ashwell which saw an air ambulance land at the scene.

Emergency services – including Magpas Air Ambulance – were called at about 10.25am yesterday after a Land Rover Defender was in collision with a cyclist in Northfield Road.

The cyclist, a 28-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being taken by land ambulance to Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further care.

She had serious facial injuries, as well as hip and leg pain, but her condition is not believed to be life threatening.
