A cyclist was sent flying by a winch cable stretched across a cycle path in the dark.
Geoff Millman, 58, crashed to the ground after he hit the cable at chest height at around 5pm on Saturday. It was tied to a tree from a recovery vehicle helping a motorist stuck on the verge of Broadhall Way, Stevenage.
A bruised Mr Millman said: “Nothing was lit up. I could have been killed. They would have been if it was a moped.”
Police are investigating.
