A boy and a girl were taken to hospital and a lane closed following a crash on the A1(M) yesterday (Sunday).

Emergency services were called at about 2.30pm after reports that an artic lorry and a Nissan X-Trail 4x4 had collided on the southbound carriageway just before junction 7 for Stevenage.

Both children were taken to Lister Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being stabalised at the scene by the ambulance service.

One lane of the motorway was shut while the vehicles were recovered, but reopened at 3.55pm.
